Swimming and Diving Team Defeats Clarkstown by 11 as More Athletes Qualify for Sectionals and States

The Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook Swim and Dive Team defeated Clarkstown on Wednesday evening, 96-85. The victory is the team’s seventh (compared to just one loss), and several key performers earned qualifications for future tournaments.

“[We] had an amazing meet tonight,” Head Coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com after the game. “The 200-meter medley relay of Kate Chesley, Kayla Lombardo, Megan Tiedemann, and Grayson Findlay qualified for the State championship meet. Sophie Boyle and Ayana Ite qualified for sectionals in the 200M freestyle. Ayana Ite also qualified for sectionals in the 500M freestyle. Kayla Lombardo qualified for the state championship in the 100M breaststroke.”

The team (7-1) faces off against Fox Lane in their next meet on Friday, October 18. The matchup against the Foxes is set for 4:30pm at the Hommocks Pool in Mamaroneck.
