FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18   RYE @ YORKTOWN   7:00PM

Only the YORKTOWN cornHUSKERS and then the Harrison Huskies – Huskers followed by Huskies, remain to challenge the Garnets regular season, Section One schedule. In the long and a-maize-ing history of Rye football back to 1929, the Garnets had never played Yorktown or any other “Northern Tier” schools including Somers, Brewster, Peekskill and Fox Lane, among others, until the 2013 planting season.

Ever since there has been a bumper crop of exciting football to enjoy with the Garnets holding a 7-3-0 (.700) advantage. Rye’s only complaints center on (1) the historical imbalance of playing the Green and White in their corn crib, and (2) a 2016 Garnet defense that allowed Yorktown sixty-six (66) points while Rye scored a paltry forty-two (42).

These Huskers lose their luster unable to muster a talented cluster to backstop their pre-game bluster, buster.

Mortgage the barn, sell the tractors and furrow the acres as the Garnets break out of their mid-season slump.

But it won’t be easy .
