Girls Soccer Advances to Final Four After Draining Chenango Valley

Girls Soccer is headed to the New York State final four tournament looking for a repeat of 2023. On Saturday afternoon, Rye Girls Varsity Soccer had a dominate performance against Chenango Valley in the NYS regional final match for a dominant 6 – 0 win.
Hannah Jachman served a perfect pass to Charlotte Keenan who tucked Rye’s first goal away just 6 minutes into the match. Shira Rand served a perfect direct kick and Claire Nemsick flicked a head ball to the upper 90.
At the end of the first half, with the score of 2-0, Rye came out explosive moving the ball around Chenango Valley. Charlotte Keenan would find the back of the net two more times with assists for Reese Lejuez and Mary Sack. Claire Nemsick would score a 40 yard shot off a direct kick. Joy DeSanto finished the scoring off with an assist from Lucy Wykoff.
Rye had a stellar defensive effort from Parker Calhoun, Ava Cross, and Ali Koford. The team is 20 – 1 – 1 for the season.
Next up number one Rye will travel to Cortland High School next Saturday, November 16, 2024 to face number three New Hartford for a 12:00pm kick off.
