In Memory: Kathryn Carey Strom, Age 71

Obituary - Kathryn Carey StromKathryn Carey Strom, age 71, of Westhampton, NY and Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024. The eldest daughter of the late Mary Frances and J. Paul Carey Jr., she is survived by her devoted husband Michael F. Misisco, her beloved daughter Kathryn (“Kate”) Strom Cusack (William) and her dear grandchildren Cora, Grace and Jonathan (“Jake“) Cusack. She was predeceased in 1994 by her first husband Jonathan W. Strom. Kathy is also survived by her loving sisters Anne Keenan (Brian), Virginia McBride (Mark), Helen McConnell (Matt) and Barbara Vermylen (Mark), as well as dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a lifetime of cherished friends worldwide.

Born in Manhattan and raised in Rye, NY, Kathy graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart, Stonehill College and Seton Hall University with a master’s degree in East Asian Studies. Her career pursuits and intellectual curiosity led her to a variety of experiences including accounting, finance, and real estate. Her living experiences in Rye, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Manhattan all enriched her life prior to settling with her husband Michael in Westhampton and Palm Beach. Kathy’s passion for travel took her to destinations worldwide with both her family and with close friends.

In recent years, Kathy enjoyed spending time with friends and pursued a variety of activities at Westhampton Country Club, The Beach Club (Palm Beach, FL) and the Surf Club of Quogue.

Kathy’s final months were spent with her husband Michael in Westhampton where she graciously received visits from the many family members and lifelong friends who loved her. Their devotion to Kathy was a testament to her compassion and to her genuine interest in the lives of all those she touched during her time on earth.

Kathy had a quick wit, and was a loyal friend, a loving grandmother, mother and wife, and most certainly, her parents’ favorite daughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, November 23 at Church of the Resurrection (910 Boston Post Road, Rye NY). Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online in memory of Kathryn C.
