New Assistant Principal @ Rye High
Eunice Chao-Forest will be welcomed to the Rye City School District as the new assistant principal at Rye High School. She will replace Mark Bayer, who has been serving as interim assistant principal since the departure of William Meyer at the end of the last school year in June. The Board of Education appointed Chao-Forest at its meeting Tuesday night. She starts on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024.
Chao-Forest comes to the Rye City School District with 11 years of experience as assistant principal at public schools in New York City, most recently at the Bronx Academy of Letters, where she has been assistant principal and interim principal for the past six years. She began her career in education as a Teach for America corps member teaching high school chemistry and biology before becoming resident principal at Bronx Expeditionary Learning High School as part of a year-long school leadership training program.
Chao-Forest has a B.A. from Columbia University and an M.S. in Secondary Science Education from Pace University. She is fluent in Mandarin and proficient in Spanish. She is a former D1 college athlete (tennis), is an accomplished concert pianist, and lives in Scarsdale with her husband and four children.
In describing the search, Rye High School Principal Andrew Hara, himself a new addition to the district, said “Chao-Forest demonstrated a strong skill set as an instructional leader and administrator, an approachable demeanor and collaborative nature, a proven ability and commitment to building relationships with students, and deep experience working in partnership with teachers and staff.”
Chao-Forest will host two meet and greets for parents. The first will be held on Thursday, December 19th, at 10:30 a.m. in the RMS Multipurpose Room. The second meet and greet will be held on Tuesday, January 7th, at 7:00 p.m. also in the RMS Multipurpose Room.
The next big search will be for the replacement of Rye City School District Superintendent Eric Byrne, who announced he will retire at the end of this school year.
