MyRye.com is featuring varsity team MVPs from the fall 2024 sports season. The MVPs have been selected by each coach. A big MyRye.com congratulations to all the MVPs.

Rye Varsity Volleyball Head Coach Geri Jones had a rather easy pick for her team’s 2024 MVP – Ashley Dehmer. Jones told MyRye.com the following about her star senior:

“Ashley is our senior setter, captain. The team needed her in order to have the success we had this season. She was motivated to give her all and her best this entire season. Ashley took the role of team captain seriously and was determined to lead this team until the end… I am so proud of the work Ashley has done this season and forever grateful for the positive mark she left on the program.”

Beyond her leadership qualities, Dehmer was one of the best setters in New York State. She reached 1000 career assists in her penultimate game as a Garnet – a playoff sweep vs Edgemont – and broke the program record for assists in a single season in 2024. Rye’s offense functioned through her all season, and for good reason.
