FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15   SOMERS TUSKERS VS RYE GARNETS @ MAHOPAC HIGH SCHOOL   6:00PM

The circus tent has been furled for the winter and the King Kone roadside ice cream snack shop closed for the season. Like leaves that turn color and fall, it must be time for the annual renewal of playoff football battles between the SOMERS TUSKERS and the Garnets of Rye. Historically the teams are evenly matched, and the similarity of the school colors and uniforms between the Tuskers’ Silver and Red and the Garnet and Black of Rye make it even more difficult to tell the teams apart.

Expect three rings of action on the neutral site Mahopac High School turf headlined by two potent offenses, as the two-time NYSPHSAA Class A Champion (2022 & 2023) Tuskers lock ivory with the reigning NYSPHSAA Class B Champion (2023) Rye Garnets. The historical ledger card reads 10-10-0 (.500) – as even as they come, while the Journal News Sportswriters call the game by a one-point differential (28-27) favoring Rye.

THE OLD GARNET, ALWAYS GUILTY OF BEING A “HOMEY”, SAYS: “TUSKERS LOSE THEIR LUSTER”
