In Memory: Alexander J. Glennon, Age 90
Alexander J. Glennon, passed away on December 23, 2024. Born on March 9, 1934, the son of Alexander Glennon Sr. and Catherine O’Connor Glennon.After graduating from Iona Prep and Iona College and faithfully serving his country in the US Marine Corp, he began his thirty-five-year career with Gannett Newspapers.
Mr. Glennon also worked as a substitute teacher for the Rye City Schools for grades K-12. He worked in youth basketball, football and as a baseball coach in Rye. He faithfully attended Church of the Resurrection as a parishioner and usher for over 25 years and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his children: Robert Glennon, Regina Glennon, and Renee Glennon. He was predeceased by his son Richard A Glennon in 2012. Also surviving are his 5 grandchildren: Drew Somervile, Catherine Kelly, Alexandra Kelly, Matthew Glennon and Michelle Glennon.
The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home on January 2, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Church of the Resurrection at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery.
