Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook Swimming and Diving suffered a close defeat on Friday evening (December 13), falling just short of Yonkers by a score of 92-79. The team has lost consecutive games this week to drop to 1-3 on the young season.

“The Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook team had a strong performance against a talented Yonkers team with a lot of depth,” Head Coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com after the meet. Standout performers for her team include:

  • Kieran Moran placed first in the 200-meter Individual Medley (IM) and 100M fly
  • Finn Hansen, who won the 1M diving event
  • Michael Ladyzhensky placed first in the 100M freestyle
  • Nick Stocks, who has been off to a great start to his first varsity season, won the 100M backstroke

Beyond individual victors, two long-distance swimmers beat personal records. “Michael Hamlet and Jackson Rindahl went lifetime best times in the 500 free,” Konopka confirmed in her postgame report.

Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook (1-3) will look to regroup before their next meet, one week from today, when they host Eastchester. The long layoff should help them after having four meets in one week from December 6 through today’s matchup against Yonkers.
