Caregiver Arrested for Scamming Elderly Rye Resident of $9K

The caregiver of an elderly woman in Rye has been arrested for allegedly scamming her out of $9,100.
Amie Faye, 35, of the Bronx, was arrested by Rye PD on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 and charged with Grand Larceny 3rd, Forgery 2nd, and Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd, all Class D Felonies. An investigation by Rye detectives uncovered that Faye allegedly wrote $9,100 in checks while employed as the 95 year old woman’s caregiver.
Faye is accused of writing the checks without the victim’s consent and converting the money to her own use. Faye was working in the woman’s private home in Rye. A family member had brought their concern to the Rye PD.
Faye was arraigned in Rye City Court and released on her own recognizance, her next scheduled court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday February 4, 2025 at 9:00am.
