Real estate salesperson Adriane DeFeo has moved in at Compass.

DeFeo, a Rye native, spent the last fifteen years at Coldwell Banker Real Estate. Compass has come onto the scene in the last six years pulling together some of the top local real estate agents from Houlihan and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s including Kim Arenas, Chelsea Georgio, June Hatch and Julia Brasesco.

DeFeo’s father was a builder in Rye, so she grew up around real estate. He built almost all the homes on Eldridge Court and Eldridge Place. She lives on Theodore Fremd Avenue in a Rye home he built and will be listing another home he built, on Oakland Beach Avenue, in the immediate future. DeFeo said her father was also responsible for subdividing the area that is now Dalphin Drive (in Hix Park). Her father meant it to be Dolphin Drive, but as a new immigrant with a thick Italian accent, the street became Dalphin.

At Coldwell, DeFeo spent years working with their top agents Sula Pearlman, Michelle Flood and Nancy Neuman. Neuman, who was just in the news regarding a Rye Historical Society gift, brought DeFeo into the brokerage after Perlman encouraged her to hire DeFeo. DeFeo went to Osborn Elementary and Rye High with Perlman’s daughter. Another highlight DeFeo remembers from her time at Coldwell is representing the buyer of a $9 million home in Harrison.

deFeo and her family are also very involved in running the nonprofit Linking Handlebars. The group collects and refurbishes bicycles for disadvantaged youths in Lower Westchester (we profiled the group in our 2023 Giving Rye series).

“Compass just offered something completely different,” said deFeo. “I want to grow. I want to learn, and I want to give a better experience to my clients. It’s not about me, it’s about them.”

Note: We originally reported incorrectly the local Coldwell office had been without a head since Brett Forman left at the end of 2023. Kerry Martin Verille has managed the office since 2024. We regret the error.
