In Memory: Ard George “Pops” Farrington, Age 78

Obituary - Ard George “Pops” FarringtonArd George “Pops” Farrington, 78, a longtime Rye resident, died peacefully on January 17, 2025 after a short illness. He was born on March 26, 1946 in White Plains, New York to the late James and Ruth (Boyce) Farrington. He grew up in White Plains and graduated from White Plains High School in 1964. Pops served in the US Army from 1964 to 1967, spending time in Vietnam and being honorably discharged as Spec-5. He then attended Westchester Business Institute and Westchester Community College, both in White Plains. On October 23, 1971, he married the love of his life, Victoria Faszewski, and they settled in Rye, New York, where they raised two children. Pops worked in a variety of corporate settings and spearheaded Y2K readiness projects for several companies. In the 2000s, he turned his attention to real estate. Pops’ quirky sense of humor and computer know how made him a favorite in the office for IT assistance.
Pops is survived by his wife, Vicki of Rye, NY; daughter Brooke and husband Bryson Coopersmith also of Rye; son Jeremy of White Plains; grandchildren Jackson and Whitney; his brother David and wife Peggy Farrington of Wappingers Falls, NY; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Beside his parents, Pops was predeceased by his brother, James Farrington, and sister, Jack Lee Cooney.
Pops loved sports, rooting for the Yankees, New York Giants and the Rye Garnets. He coached youth football in Port Chester, Rye Girls Softball and Rye Little League. He was President of the Rye Babe Ruth League for three years. He loved being outdoors, particularly near water where he could fish. Pops loved to cook for his family and friends, particularly around the holidays. Everyone always ended up with a full stomach and leftovers to spare.
There will be a wake at Graham Funeral Home on Saturday, January 25 between 4 and 7 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow on Sunday, January 26th at 11:30 am.
Pops enjoyed spending time at nearby Rye Town Park, so in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of Rye Town Park.
