Thomas Walter Bartsch III passed away suddenly on January 4, 2025 in Milwaukee, WI. Tom was born on July 17, 1956 in Mount Vernon, NY. He grew up in Rye, New York and attended Stepinac High School and later Nichols College in Dudley, MA.

Tom met the love of his life, Rosemary Dietz, in 1982 and they were married less than a year later in May of 1983. Rosemary and Tom’s marriage was one of unwavering support and joy. They shared a passion for sailing and Long Island Sound and never strayed far from the water. They traveled to many countries, hosted many parties, lived in 4 different states, and cherished every one of their 42 years together.

Tom was a wonderful husband, brother, son, father, uncle and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Rosemary, son Tom IV (Nicole) and granddaughters Ella and Ahna, daughter-in-law Laura Hartin (Timber), daughter Emsie Sigwarth (Frank) and grandson Lawlor, parents Tom and Margaret Bartsch and sisters Sally Bartsch (David Beers) and Nancy Osborn (David) as well as many loving sister and brother-in-laws and nieces and nephews. Tom is predeceased by his son Timber, and we take solace and comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his beloved ‘Ber.

We remember Tom for his acceptance of all and his quiet kindness. While living in Madison, CT his home was open to any of his children’s friends that walked through his door. Though Tom was a father to 3 children, he was a dad to many and took loving care of those who called him Uncle Tom, Papa B or simply “Bartsch.” While living in Charleston, SC he formed deep friendships over cribbage. In his brief time in Milwaukee, WI he often cooked and baked for new friends. He loved to spend his days at the beach, and was never happier than during long summers on Cape Cod surrounded by his wife, children, nieces and nephews. Tom was an avid reader, lifelong NY Giants fan, reluctant dog lover, and loved to listen to people and learn their life story.

There will be a memorial gathering in Tom’s honor at the Coveleigh Club in Rye, NY (459 Stuyvesant Ave, Rye, NY 10580) on March 15 from 2-4 PM. Anyone wishing to honor and remember Tom is invited to attend.
