The movie Lost on a Mountain in Maine about Donn Fendler, a 12 year old boy from Rye, is moving to the streaming services.

The movie is the 1939 story of 12-year-old Donn Fendler of Rye when he became lost on Mount Katahdin in Maine. Separated from his family by a fast-moving storm, Fendler fought to stay alive during his nine-day adventure lost in the remote wilderness of Northern Maine. The search for Fendler became a national obsession.

The movie debuted in theaters in November and is now how available for rent or purchase in Apple TV. On Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 the film will also become available for rent on Amazon, Roku and YouTube. The film is expected to be on a subscription streaming service sometime this spring.

While Donn Fendler passed away in 2016, his 96-year-old brother Tom Fendler still lives in Rye (MyRye.com spoke with him last August at the same time the movie trailer became available). We also spoke with producer Ryan Cook earlier in the summer.
