Rye FD Volunteers Donate $10K to California Fire Foundation
On the heels of an impromptu community fundraiser last week for those impacted by the California wildfires, the volunteers of the Rye Fire Department are donating $10,000 to the California Fire Foundation – Benevolent Fund.
Dan Bochicchio, department chief, stated “firefighters everywhere are one with our brothers and sisters in Los Angeles. We provide mutual aid here at home with neighboring communities; when a crisis like this strikes, aid is coming from fire departments across the globe. We are happy that we in Rye are able to help”.
The Fire Foundation site describes its mission: “The California Fire Foundation is honored to provide a benevolent benefit for not only those firefighters impacted by fire or natural disaster but for those injured or killed in the line of duty. ” Bochicchio urges residents to consider a donation and to “let them know you are from Rye, NY”.
