Rye Wrestler CJ Luth Etches His Name in History

CJ Luth avenged his tough defeat from last week’s Shoreline tournament finals in a big way on Saturday, January 27, taking home a Westchester County Championship in the 160lb weight division. Luth is only the second ever county champ from Rye, and he did so in dominant fashion, overpowering Iona Prep’s Ralphie Rodriguez in under two minutes. His performance Saturday is another in a long list of impressive ones this 2024-25 season – perhaps his most substantial.
Rye as a team finished tied for 10th among all competitors at the Westchester County Championship tournament with 69.5 points. The event was hosted at Sleepy Hollow High School, which will now always be a memorable location for the entire Luth family, including and especially CJ.
Behind Luth, Jack Anderson, Jason Gaylord, and Ronan Sutter took home all-county honors to help Rye to a top-10 finish.
Next up for the Garnets is an away meet at Ossining at 4:30pm on Tuesday, January 28. Watch it here.
