Swimming and Diving Falls to White Plains 99-84 in First Meet of 2025
The White Plains Swimming and Diving team got the better of Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook on Wednesday evening (January 8), picking up a 99-84 victory and defending their home pool. Despite the loss, Head Coach Katie Konopka remained optimistic about her team’s effort, and some key standout individual performers.
“The Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook Swim Team did a great job competing against a very talented White Plains Swim and Dive Team,” Konopka told MyRye.com after the meet.
Kieran Moran was the only athlete to win two events – the 200-meter individual medley (2:10.82) and 100M backstroke (1:03:87). Behind Moran, Wilson Redd won the 50M freestyle relay with a time of 23.85 seconds, qualifying for sectionals in the process. George Papaioannou placed first in the 100M butterfly, finishing in 1:02.16, just 0.8 seconds faster than second place. Rye High junior Henri von Homeyer started off his 2025 with a huge step forward, earning personal best times in the 50M freestyle (33.41 seconds) and 100M breaststroke (1:41.77).

Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook (2-4) will shift their focus to their first home meet of the new year, as they host New Rochelle – Bronxville on Friday, January 10. The start time for the meet is scheduled for 4:30pm to kick off the weekend.
