Brady’s Hat Trick Powers Rye Hockey to 7-5 Victory over Fordham Prep

Connor Brady scored a hat trick and the Rye Hockey Team took down Fordham Prep in a non-league game on Sunday, February 2, scoring twice in the final five minutes to win 7-5. Brady stayed hot with the three goal performance, which helped the Garnets reach double digits in the win column on the season.
Head Coach Pete Thomas described the game as a “penalty filled affair”, as the two teams battled consistently both between and after whistles. The Garnets had to kill a five minute penalty at one point in the second and third period, doing so successfully en route to the victory.
The Niejadlik brothers combined for three goals as well, with Will scoring twice and Max once. Ryan Draddy scored a power play goal to add third period insurance to round out the scoring. Fernando Mosquera relieved Owen Fitzgibbons, who drew the start, and claimed the win with another solid performance. It would be surprising to see anyone but the sophomore, who is now up to eight wins on the season, start any important games down the stretch.
Rye (10-5-1) takes the ice again on Wednesday, February 5, at 6:30pm. The Garnets host Scarsdale in the first game against the Raiders in league play as their regular season begins to wind down. Watch the win vs the Rams here.
