Athlete of the Month is a new series where MyRye.com profiles the best athletes of each month throughout the academic year selected by Rye Athletics. Today, we look at senior Erin Ball of the Rye Varsity Indoor Track and Field Team, who earned Rye High School’s Athlete of the Month honors for January 2025.

“As an athlete who specializes in these two field events, Erin’s training and competing involves a high degree of focus and an emphasis on technical details,” Head Coach Bryan Johnson told MyRye.com. “She needs to be dialed in to a high degree during practices and meets alike.”

In January, Ball became a league champion in both the long and high jump events. She also earned a Westchester County championship in the high jump, coming up just three inches shy of the same in the long jump as well.

Ball was a strong contributor to the Garnets’ volleyball team in the fall and will look to end the track season strong. She is the fifth Athlete of the Month for the 2024-25 academic year, following Kaden Zion (Boys Soccer, September), Caroline Doyle (Field Hockey, October), Bowyn Brown (Girls Soccer, November), and Jake Kessner (Boys Basketball, December).
