The Rye Hockey Team pushed its season-long winning streak to seven games on Friday, February 14, defeating Scarsdale 5-2 on the road. The Garnets struck three times in the first period and limited the Raiders to 17 shots to pick up victory number 12 on the season.

“We got off to a sluggish start,” Head Coach Pete Thomas told MyRye.com after the win. “But once we got it going, we established the tone we wanted.”

Nick Doyle, Connor Brady, and Trevor Dolan all found the back of the net in the first period for Rye, as Cody Greenhaw, Will Molin, Matt Giannetti, and Will Weinman all picked up assists. Scarsdale added a goal in the second to get within one (3-2) before Ryan Draddy scored a crucial short-handed goal off a feed from Connor Brady. Brady’s assist and second point of the night pushes him to seven goals and eight points across his last four games.

Max Niejadlik scored on the power play in the final frame from Dean Kim and Tyler McDermott to add insurance, while Fernando Mosquera did his job with 15 saves. He is now in double-digits in the win column on the season with 10 victories.

Rye (12-5-1) is officially done with league regular season games after their seventh in a row, and have two more tune-up contests before they tackle the postseason. The first of those is Monday, February 17, at 4:00pm against Horace Greeley. It’s a make-up game from the one scheduled for Thursday 2/13 that was cancelled due to snow, and will be Rye’s final home game of the regular season. They conclude the scheduled slate the following night, Tuesday 2/18, with a 5:30 puck drop at North Rockland.
