The Rye Squash Team won again on Friday, January 7, defeating Darien 4-3 to move to 9-3 on the season. The Garnets have now won six games in a row, and appear to be peaking just in time with playoffs around the corner.

“The team won another close match against Darien,” Head Coach Quan Hyunh said after the match. “Everyone played well.”

The closest individual matchups of the day were a very close 5-game loss at #6 (Philip Nemeth) and a battle between the best for each side at the #1 position (Charlie Rodilosso). #2 Andrew Chun, #3 Nate Kim-Reuter, and #5 Harry Ellis all earned decisive victories to help the team earn the overall victory.

Rodilosso won his matchup in four games, including the fourth and final game by a 17-15 score. His other wins were 11-8 and 11-6 after dropping the first game 11-7. His efforts helped the Garnets maintain first place in the FairWest League.

Rye (9-3) will look to end the regular season with a satisfying 10th win in their season finale at home (LifeTime) against Bronxville. The 2025 finale is set to begin at 8:00pm on Monday, February 10. Playoffs and nationals will follow for Hyunh and his group.
