Sweet 16: Girls Basketball Wins by 43, Improves to 16-1 Season

The Rye Girls Basketball Team made it five in a row and sixteen of seventeen overall on the season on Monday, February 2, taking down Eastchester 64-21 on the road. The Garnets improve to 16-1 (a .941 win percentage) and a 5-0 in league play.
For the second straight game, everyone on the roster scored for Head Coach Margo Hackett. Pheobe Greto led the way, again, with 20 points, followed by Paige Tepedino with 10. Molly Kennedy (7 points), Annie Toulouse (6 points), and Kathleen Denvir (6 points) all provided solid secondary scoring as well in the big win. Rye’s defense limited the Eagles to just 21 points and has now allowed just 70 points across their last three victories (23.3 per game, fewer than six per quarter).
Rye (16-1, 6-0) host Pelham on Friday, February 7, as they search for their sixth consecutive win. The contest vs the Pelicans at the Rye HS gym is set for 7:00pm, and it is the only varsity event for the Garnets that day. Expect another thrilling game between the league rivals, who played to a mere seven point spread at Pelham earlier in the season. Watch it here.
