Girls Basketball Falls in Regional Finals to Baldwin

The Rye Girls Basketball Team fell in the New York State Regional Finals on Saturday, March 15, ending their terrific season. The Garnets were the last team sport standing from the winter season, but their 49-33 loss to Baldwin High School over the weekend marks the end of their remarkable run.
“I’m very proud of the girls as we finished the season 21-4, after going 9-12 last season,” Head Coach Margo Hackett told MyRye.com. “We were also league champions, Section 1 AA champions, and Regional Finalists.”
Charlotte Storz led Rye with 13 points in the low-scoring affair, flanked by Paige Tepedino and Phoebe Greto (6 points apiece). Tepedino and Greto conclude phenomenal, MVP-worthy individual seasons, while Storz capped off a very productive playoff run.
Rye pranced through their league playoffs as the #2 seed after a very strong 17-3 regular season, nearly doubling their win total from 2023-24 with playoffs on the horizon. The team ended with an overall 21-4 cumulative record to go along with the sectional championship.
It was a memorable season, as Rye won several key games in both the regular season and playoffs. Some of their best wins include vs Walter Panas to win the Gold Ball, against Harrison on home soil, vs Pelham on January 22, and a one-point victory over Henry Hudson in the early season. They also won the in-season Mahopac Tournament, adding another jewel to their crown in an amazing season for the girls basketball program.
