Girls Lacrosse Crushes Horace Greeley in Another Big Win

The Rye Girls Lacrosse Team picked up a second consecutive dominant win to open the 2025 season on Saturday, March 29, obliterating Horace Greeley 16-3. The Garnets move to 2-0 in their quick pre-season, non-league slate, with 32 goals for and only seven against in those contests.
“Caroline Doyle was absolutely dominant on the draw today, putting it to her teammates beautifully and winning two herself,” Head Coach Michelle Mason told MyRye.com. “Nine players contributed to offensive points and our defensive units limited Greeley’s offensive opportunities to just three goals.”
Beyond the draw circle, Doyle scored twice in a shining effort. Mary Sack filled the box score with three goals, one assist, and seven draw controls as Rye hardly let the Quakers touch the ball.
The Garnets had previously defeated Somers 16-4 in their home and season opener, and somehow improved upon that in their first road matchup of the spring. Through two games, Mason was able to highlight three different players for their exceptional performances, showing the depth up and down her lineup. The team should expect a closer contest in their next game, the league opener at Pelham, on Tuesday, April 1. Don’t be fooled – start time against the Pelicans at Glover Field a few exits down is set for 4:30pm on a busy day in Rye sports.
