Rye Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach Tommy Proudian did not name an individual MVP for the 2024-25 season, instead choosing to highlight all sixteen players on his roster.

“I believe each member of the Rye Varsity Boys Varsity Basketball team played a pivotal role in the success of the team, all 16 members,” Proudian told MyRye.com. “They all made significant contributions to help us reach the section championship game… so one member doesn’t deserve to be singled out.”

As a team, the Garnets showed incredible grit and resolve throughout the 2024-25 season. Several individuals stepped up in big ways at different times, whether it was Henry Shoemaker’s playoff dunks, Jake Kessner reaching 1000 career points, Ben Hudson draining threes off the bench, Rocklan Boisseau putting together electric stretches in second halves, Andrew Wilmarth battling inside, or other key contributors making an impact both on and off the floor. Proudian and his group got back to the sectional championship game for a second consecutive season in his first year at the helm, and he credits the efforts of his entire roster for getting there.

“There are many ways a player can make valuable contributions,” Proudian said. “MVPs are more than statistics.”
