It appears the City of Rye will scrutinize the proposed development at 67 Grant Avenue in Harrison along the flood prone Beaver Swamp Brook. A new six story, 140-unit apartment complex is being proposed adjacent to Beaver Swamp Brook in Harrison, a stone’s throw from the Glen Oaks neighborhood of Rye. The project will be discussed at the Harrison Planning Board meeting this Tuesday, March 25th at 7:00pm (Municipal Building, 1 Heineman Place, Harrison).

On the agenda for Wednesday, March 26th at Rye City Council is a proposal to authorize $10,000 for consultants “to review the Grant Avenue development application in the Town of Harrison.” It is early days for a proposal like this, and one would expect Rye to give a hard look given the history of adjacent the adjacent property (detailed in our previous report), the flooding concerns around the Beaver Swamp Brook and what look be be already heightened concerns of project neighbors in both towns.
