Rye Varsity Skiing Co-Head Coach David Gray has chosen his MVP for the 2025 season: senior Kiran Gounden-Kobes.

“Kiran has been one of Rye’s top ski racers for the past 3 years,” Gray told MyRye.com. “He was the team’s strongest racer this year and ended a great Rye High School career by coming in 13th overall in the Section I Sectionals at Hunter Mountain.”

Gounden-Kobes came within milliseconds of being Rye’s only representative at states this past year in the slalom event. He found great success throughout his four-year varsity career, capped off by earning All-League honors and the team MVP. Gray noted that it will be difficult to replace the impact Gounden-Kobes had on the program.

“Both [Co-Head Coach Jeff] Steinmann and myself wish Kiran nothing but success post Rye High School,” Gray continued. “I’m sure where ever he goes and whatever he does, it will involve skiing.”
