Rye Varsity Squash MVP: Andrew Chun

Rye Varsity Squash Head Coach Quan Hyunh has announced his MVP for the 2024-25 season: senior Andrew Chun.
“Andrew is a natural leader who has motivated and inspired the team to attend practices and to improve and compete to the best of their ability,” Hyunh told MyRye.com. “His leadership will be missed next year.”
Chun was a four-year member of the top varsity squash team for Rye. He peaked during the 2024-25 season, where he went 14-2 individually and helped his team to an overall 11-3 record (this mark excludes nationals). The 11 wins were a program high, and Chun had a lot to do with it with consistent success in the #2 position.
Including his junior season in 2023-24, Chun went 23-6 individually across the last two winters. Throughout his four varsity years, the graduating senior recorded an astounding 14-2 individual record at nationals, including 4-0 this season despite no team victories.
Perhaps most notably, Chun co-captained the Garnets and led them to the program’s first ever FairWest League title this season as one of only two seniors on the roster.
