Boys Varsity Golf split their first two matches after break, adjusting the season to 4 – 1 – 1.

On Monday, the team notched a win over Blind Brook 197 – 209 on Westchester Country Club South Course. Rye High’s Ryan Mascali and Blind Brook’s Max Pollitzer were the medalists, both shooting 36.

“It was the team’s first match after spring break, as well as a little cold and windy, but there were zero complaints from the players as the course was in excellent condition and the boys said it was nice to play on quicker greens for the first time this season,” said Head Coach Pat Romano.

The weather improved Tuesday, but the team fell in a close 192 – 190 match against Scarsdale at Fenway Golf Club. Medalists were RHS freshman Graham Erickson and SHS senior Leo Chu, both shooting 34.

“Today felt like summer!,” said Romano about the Tuesday match. “In addition to the great weather and course conditions, the team as a whole had a really good round with several low scores: Graham Erickson shot a very impressive 34, team captain Nate Allison shot 38, and both Ryan Mascali and Lotton Wydra shot 39. Despite the low scores and great team effort, Scarsdale beat us by two strokes.”

The Golf team hosts Eastchester at Rye Golf Club on Wednesday for a 3:20pm tee time.
