The Rye Girls Lacrosse Team fell short in their second high-profile, non-league game over spring break on Thursday, April 17. The Garnets fell 7-6 in overtime to Wilton High School in Connecticut, a perennially strong opponent.

“This was a tough OT loss for the Garnets,” Head Coach Michelle Mason admitted after the game. “Our defensive system was outstanding and showed tremendous discipline and grit for the full game.”

Wilton entered the matchup with 33 goals scored in their two victories, 15-2 and 18-0. This was the first time they faced any semblance of a challenge, and it was Rye’s stellar defense which allowed them to stay in the game despite a quiet day on offense.

Rye falls to 4-3 on the season and will look to bounce back next on Tuesday, April 22. They host Darien at 5:00pm for a third consecutive elite-level showdown against an impressive out-of-state opponent (watch the game).
