In Memory: Agnes W. Rich, Age 98

She was the youngest of five children born to Natalie and Nicholas Woloszyn on September 17, 1926 and grew up in Greenwich, CT. She attended Greenwich High School graduating with the Class of 1944.
She worked in the Greenwich town hall until she met her husband, the love of her life Dante at her brother’s wedding to Dante’s sister Lucille. They married on January 22, 1949 and celebrated 70 years together prior to his passing in 2019. After her marriage, she moved to Portchester for a short time and then to Rye where she has resided for the last 74 years. She worked alongside her husband and his family in the family business of John B. Rich & Sons until it was sold in 1988 and then in the business she and Dan owned on Purchase Street, Moraio Bros. Flower Shop until their retirement in 2004.
Agnes and Dan were world travelers having visited many countries in Europe, South America, and the far east. One trip took them completely around the world. They had many friends around the country and enjoyed all their travels, but always loved coming back to their home in Rye.
After Dan’s passing, Agnes enjoyed trips to visit family in Las Vegas, Florida and Martha’s Vineyard. She was an avid crocheter, having made dozens of afghans for family and friends as well as knitted sweaters.
She was a longtime member of Rye Seniors and had a special knitting group with the seniors and her daughter. The yarn department of Michaels was like taking her to a candy store and she loved her chocolates. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and looked forward to hearing from all her nieces and nephews especially on the holidays.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Dante, her brother Edward and sisters, Mary Woloszyn, Theresa Slomoshynsky and Ann Salkoski.
She is survived by her daughters, Lauren of Stamford, CT and Janet and son-in-law Richard Bayley of Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and their children.
