Mysterious Lavender Lane Car Fire
There was an unexplained car fire on Lavender Lane in Rye early Sunday morning. In a statement, Rye PD said the vehicle “has been towed to a secure police impound for further investigation”.
The incident follows two others. On March 11th, there was a police chase in the same area. And on February 1st, a local resident was followed in an apparent attempt to steal the homeowner’s vehicle.
On Sunday (April 6, 2025) at approximately 4:50am, the Rye PD and Rye FD responded to a reported car fire on Lavender Lane. Upon the arrival of emergency services, the vehicle was found fully engulfed. The fire was quickly extinguished and the cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation. The vehicle, a 2014 Dodge Durango, was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No one was hurt in the incident.
