It is better than just OKO.

Brian Lewis, the restaurateur and chef behind OKO Rye on Purchase Street, has been nominated for a James Beard award in the category of Best Chef: Northeast. Lewis was nominated for his restaurant The Cottage in Westport that serves “elevated American cuisine”.

“Being named a finalist by the James Beard Foundation is an incredible honor—one that reflects the heart, dedication, and talent of our entire team,” said Chef Brian Lewis. “This recognition belongs to all of us at The Cottage Westport. I’m deeply grateful to our Director of Operations, Ralph León; our amazing chefs—Christian, Fecedio, Fermin, and Nick as well as Mel; my business partner, Kirk; my sons Jude, Jax, and my fiancée, Tara.”

Lewis is not leaving behind any taste buds in Rye. While waiting to hear if he is a winner at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards on June 16th, Lewis has rolled out his take on Japanese omakase at OKO. The $200 dining experience is described as “a multi-course journey designed to delight your senses, elevate your palate, and introduce you to innovative flavor combinations that will leave a lasting impression.” If you are thirsty, add the $75 sake pairing.

What do you get for this big investment during a turbulent time in the market? Popcorn Dashi Lions Mane; Hokkaido Uni, Osetra Caviar, Bread & Butter; Lobster, Passion Fruit, Stracciatella; Black Truffle Chawanmushi; Chili-Lime King Crab Hand Roll; St. Canut Pork Belly with Walnut Miso & Fermented Apple Butter; and Yuzu White Chocolate Huckleberry Kiss.

Reservations require 48-hour notice and a $50 deposit per guest. You will be seated at the chef’s counter or table. You need to call the restaurant (914- 481-8660) directly to book.
