The Rye Boys Baseball team won their ninth consecutive game on Thursday, May 8, beating Byram Hills 7-1. The victory clinched the Garnets a share of the League A-1 title and gives them a chance to clinch it outright with another victory.

Jamie Morris knocked a 2-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning to put Rye in front 3-1. The Garnets ended the inning with a 5-1 lead and would add two more in the sixth. Charlie Rupp and Lucas London both had RBIs and Luke Ontaneda roped a triple to highlight the offense. Peter Davies moved to 5-1 on the mound, getting seven outs in relief and only allowing two hits.

The Garnets (13-3) travel to Harrison on Saturday, May 10, for their next game against Harrison. The game begins at 4:00pm with pregame ceremonies to honor the late Andrew Gurgitano at 3:30. “That game is about much more than a win or a loss,” Head Coach Michael Bruno said of this matchup before the season. “We are always honored that we can be a part of something so special for the Harrison baseball community.”
