Rye Softball Beats Byram Hills by Fourteen Runs

Rye Softball earned their second win over Byram Hills of the season on Wednesday, May 7, taking down the Bobcats 16-2 in 5 innings. The Garnets are now 4-0-1 in May and their offense is white hot with 66 runs since the calendar turned from April (13.2 per game).
The Gilmore sisters split the work in the circle once again, as Gigi earned the win with four innings and zero earned runs against. Penelope allowed a run in her only inning of work. She also went 1-1 at the plate with a walk, hit by pitch, run batted in, and three runs scored.
Penelope Gilmore was one of ten Garnets to record at least one hit in the game, and one of eight with at least an RBI. The colorful box score was highlighted by Ava Cross with two hits, two runs, and an RBI, Charlotte Dinger (1-1 with a double, two runs, and two RBIs), and Fiona Green with her first varsity hit and an RBI.
The Garnets (4-7-1) will look to add to their undefeated streak tomorrow, Thursday 5/8, as they host the Harrison Huskies. The rivalry game begins at 4:30pm at the Rye Softball Field. Alex Tejera’s team will look for a second consecutive home victory and to go to 5-0-1 since May 1.
