Sisters Arrested for Assault on Purchase Street
On Friday, two sisters were arrested by Rye PD for an alleged assault on Purchase Street
Rye Police Department officers responded to the intersection of Purchase Street and Cedar Street on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 3:15 pm on a 911 call for a physical altercation between two females at the bus stop. When officers arrived on scene they spoke with the victim who stated she was attacked by two females on the street that she identified as 37 year old Shavonne Tanner and 36 year old Shaniqua Tanner both of New York City.
The victim stated she and Shaniqua Tanner are classmates in an internship program at The Enclave at Rye Rehabilitation and Nursing Center just over the line in Port Chester on 1000 High Street. Both were walking from the bus stop when she was attacked by Shaniqua and her sister, Shavonne.
Officers interviewed all involved and placed Shaniqua and Shavonne Tanner under arrest on a charge of Assault 3rd a class A Misdemeanor. EMS was called for the victim but she refused any medical attention. The sisters were processed and released with a desk appearance ticket returnable for Tuesday April 29, 2025 at 9:00am.
