Rye Arts Center’s Brigitte Loritz Watercolor Exhibit on MyRye.com
The Rye Arts Center newest exhibit featuring local water colorist Brigitte Loritz had its planned opening on Saturday, March 14th as the world was shutting down due to COVID-19. So we spoke with the RAC, and decided to bring you a virtual show.
Loritz has been on on the Faculty of the Rye Arts Center for the past 33 years. She has chaired several art shows in Westchester and served as art director at American Yacht Club. Born in Switzerland, Loritz studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich as well as attending Parson‘s School of Art and Design. She lives in Port Chester.
In the United States she has studied under such prominent water colorists as Ed Whitney, Jane Carlson, Shannon Kelly, Arnie Lindmark, Janet Walsh, Mel Stabin and Diane Foaxon.
Since the original opening was cancelled, a closing reception is now scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2020. Given our current state and speed, that also seems at risk. But forget that for now. Grab your coffee, tea or drink and get lost in some art:
Also worth viewing is the video the RAC staff put together. If nothing else, this wretched virus has brought out some serious creativity. Pay attention to the credits at the end (don’t worry – the entire thing is less than 90 seconds):
