122 COVID-19 Positive in Rye; Westchester Resident Deaths Top 800 – Tuesday, April 21, 2020

Westchester County is reporting 122 COVID-19 positive cases in Rye as of Tuesday, April 21, 2020.
During his daily briefing, Rye guy and county boss George Latimer reported he received permission from Governor Andrew Cuomo to go forward with his plan to remove late fees for County residents and business for the late payment of their property taxes. To have the fee waived, the resident or business must certify economic hardship caused by COVID-19.
The threshold for the certification requires in part that a resident must have qualified for the STAR exemption, is not paying property taxes through an escrow account and can assert that they have suffered loss of substantial employment income as a result of COVID-19.
Just like everyone else, Latimer is looking at the NY State COVID-19 tracker for county and state level statistics on the pandemic. The COVID-19 numbers:
- Fatalities of Westchester residents: 809
- Fatalities at Westchester nursing homes – note reporting is only available for certain individual nursing & care facilities – State is not showing any reporting on Rye facilities (nothing on The Osborn home, Rye Manor or Vienna Senior Housing)
- Fatalities in Westchester: 904
- Numbers of persons tested: 74,548
- Tested positive: 24,656
- % Positive results: 33.1%
- Persons tested today: 1,208
- New positives today: 350
