Rye Library Opens Book Drop Monday; Curbside Services Start June 15th – See the Plan
The Rye Free Reading Room will begin offering curbside services beginning June 15th, and expanding services according to state, county, and city guidance, and the Rye Free Reading Room pandemic plan. During this time, library staff will continue all online services, such as reference, readers advisory, technology assistance, and more. Library programs will continue to be held virtually.
All returns are extended till June 30 and late fees are waived from March 15 – June 30.
Rye Free Reading Room on-site services:
- Phase 1: Beginning June 1st, materials can be returned to the book drop. The library building opens for staff only.
- Phase 2: Beginning June 15th, patrons will have curbside-only services for pre-arranged pickups. Laptops will be available for use in outdoor spaces.
- Phase 3: Date unknown: patrons will be able to access the building by appointment and timed periods-of-stay. Library stacks will be closed, and no toys or manipulatives will be available. Desktop computers will be available. Masks will be required for entry into the building.
- Phase 4: Date unknown: Gradual access to the library resources. Meeting spaces for groups of 10 or less, and building seating for under 50 people. Masks will be required for entry into the building.
- Phase 5: Date unknown: All on-site library services resume, subject to guidance and recommendations from federal and local health officials.
Timing between phases will be determined by the measurement and criteria outlined in the New York Forward guidance.
