Rye Schools Monitor For Sex Offenders, Parental Custodial Issues with New Visitor Management System
Rye schools have installed a new visitor management system, effective immediately. All visitors will be required to present a driver’s license; state-issued ID, U.S. military ID, U.S. passport or passport card or a permanent resident card upon building entry.
The system, by Raptor Technologies of Houston, is designed to check for sex offenders, custodial issues and gang members. Raptor calls its overall system "integrated safety technology" and offers additional modules to track and check on parent volunteers, students and staff. Rye is only reporting the use of the visitor system.

Dear RCSD Parents and Guardians,
Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, the District has installed a new visitor management system. All visitors attempting to gain access to school district buildings must present a valid government-issued identification, limited to the following five ID types:
Driver’s License
State-Issued ID
U.S. Military ID
U.S. Passport or Passport Card
Permanent Resident Card
Visitors will receive a temporary badge to wear while on school grounds once they have passed a brief background check (similar systems are in use in many school districts across Westchester ). Moving forward, visitors will not be allowed in school buildings without showing a government-issued ID and all visitors will be required to sign in and out at the security desk of the building when visiting the schools. The new visitor management system will be in effect as of Tuesday, September 3rd. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
Thank you for your cooperation,
Eric Byrne, Ed.D.
