Rye Resident + Westchester Cop Cetina Finds Missing Woman at Playland
The Westchester County Police sent this over:
An elderly New Jersey woman reported missing by relatives was safely reunited with her family last week after she was found in the Rye Playland parking lot in the middle of the night by a Westchester County police lieutenant.
Lt. Henry Cetina [a Rye resident!] was conducting an inspection at Playland about 4 a.m. Friday when he observed a vehicle in the north end of the parking lot. As he drove toward the vehicle, he saw an elderly woman behind the wheel who appeared disoriented.
The woman tried to drive away but Cetina was able to perform a traffic stop. The 90-year-old woman, a resident of Saddle Brook, N.J., appeared very confused and did not know what day it was or where she was. A computer check revealed that the woman had been reported missing the previous day in New Jersey after she left for a doctor’s appointment but never arrived there.
County police secured the woman’s car at Playland and drove her to the George Washington Bridge, where Saddle Brook police officers were waiting to take her home.
