On Thursday, Rye guy and Westchester County boss George Latimer held his first COVID-19 briefing for 2021. During today’s bi-weekly, Latimer announced that the County has received 500 doses of the Moderna vaccine from New York State and has begun vaccinating the County’s frontline workers – including Department of Health nurses. The County has booked all 500 vials to be given to County staff in the 1A group and other health providers here in our community.
The curve showing new cases by day (seen below) shows a steep curve in new cases since Thanksgiving. “Ten percent of all the people that have died in Westchester County have died since Thanksgiving day,” said Latimer.
For Thursday, January 7, 2021, Westchester reported the following City of Rye numbers via the County COVID dashboard.
754 total COVID-19 cases since inception;
143 active COVID-19 cases (this assumes the remaining 611 have run the average two week contagion cycle and are no longer active);
11 new COVID-19 cases
Just like everyone else, county executives look at the NY State COVID-19 tracker for county and state level statistics on the pandemic and at the NY State regional monitoring dashboard to see our progress towards continued reopening.
