15 New, 166 Active, 847 Total COVID-19 Positives in Rye; 1,736 Deaths in Westchester – Thursday, January 14, 2021

On Thursday, Rye guy and Westchester County boss George Latimer held his COVID-19 briefing. During today’s bi-weekly, Latimer said “The COVID numbers have continued to rise at a dramatic rate.” He then noted the County is now within 1,000 active cases of the peak from last spring and that a full 8% of the County’s population has contracted the COVID virus.
Latimer made reference to a change in State policy that allows restaurants in Orange Zones to now operate under the less restrictive Yellow Zone designation rules for restaurants. The policy change, a response to a pending lawsuit in Erie County, allows limited indoor dining in nearby Port Chester (currently an Orange Zone). The revision allows some indoor dining, specifically “Indoor and outdoor dining permitted, 4 person maximum per table, and bars and restaurants close at 10:00 PM for on-premises consumption”.
For Thursday, January 14, 2021, Westchester reported the following City of Rye numbers via the County COVID dashboard.
847 total COVID-19 cases since inception;
166 active COVID-19 cases (this assumes the remaining 681 have run the average two week contagion cycle and are no longer active);
15 new COVID-19 cases

Fatalities at Westchester nursing homes – The Osborn Home in Rye is reporting eight (8) confirmed COVID-19 nursing home deaths, six (6) presumed COVID-19 nursing home deaths and one (1) COVID-19 adult care facility death thru January 13, 2021.
