In Memory: Mary Pryor, Age 92
Mary Catherine Eleanor Pryor passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 13, 2021. She was the daughter of Thomas McAllister and Margaret Frain. Mary was born on May 3, 1928 in New York City and was the eldest of four children. She is predeceased by her brother Thomas and sister Anna and survived by her brother Michael. Mary married Joseph Pryor on October 15, 1949 in the Church of the Ascension in New York and had six children: Maureen (Joseph Montanaro); Anne (Steven Ackerman); Dennis (Holly Turner); Eileen (Daniel McGann); Stephen (Nancy Quaranta); and Michael.
She is survived by twelve loving grandchildren: Patrick Nolan; Eileen Picker; Erin and Alana Ackerman; Ian and Aidan Pryor; Sarah and Caroline McGann; Bridgette, Kelly, Sean and Kaitlyn Pryor, and seven great grandchildren.
Mary held several managerial and administrative positions and concluded her career working in the Assessor’s Office at City Hall in Rye. Beyond devoting herself to family, foremost, Mary was a vital member of Resurrection Parish, teaching CCD, coordinating fundraising events, a lector, Eucharistic Minister and an active member of Helping Hands.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of her life will be held at Graham Funeral Home, Rye, New York on Sunday January 17, 2-5pm and Monday January 18, 2-5pm. A Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at the Church of the Resurrection at 10am on Tuesday January 19, 2021. The Mass will be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend in person. Interment will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, New York.
