Rye Fifth-Graders to Visit Osborn Retirement Community for Inter-Generational Concert
Over 100 fifth-grade chorus from Midland, Milton, and Osborn Schools will join residents of the Osborn Retirement Community for a joint concert that will feature a patriotic salute in honor of Flag Day. The event will be held at the Osborn, located at 101 Theall Road, on Thursday, June 19, 2014, from 1:30-2:30pm.
The concert will be a salute to Flag Day and what the flag means to residents and staff at the Osborn, some of whom have served in the armed forces. In addition to the performance, the students will have the opportunity to tour the facility and learn about the architecture and art that it contains.
This inter-generational venture was coordinated by Rye’s Elementary School Music Coordinator Shawn Amdur in collaboration with Osborn Retirement Community Resident Services Director Susan Keating and Director of Recreation and Volunteers Lynn Cohen. Students and seniors alike are looking forward to spending time together and learning from one another.
