In Memory: Marjorie Alice Boyle Orza, Age 99
Marjorie Alice Boyle Orza died quietly in her Rye, NY home on Wednesday evening, September 15, 2021. She was 99 years old.
Marjorie was born on June 6, 1922 in NYC to Angus John Boyle and Alice Marguerite Boyle (nee MacDonald), both of Boston, MA, and they moved to Rye in 1929. She lived in Rye most of her life.
She was a salutatorian graduate of Resurrection elementary school in 1936, and graduate of Rye High School in 1940. Marjorie attended Wheaton College in Newton, MA; her education being interrupted by the outbreak of World War II. She would later complete her BA in Illinois. She was a graduate of Katherine Gibbs School in NYC.
She served as personal executive assistant to CEO’s of General Dynamics Corporation in NYC, Warner’s in Bridgeport, CT, and International Mineral and Chemical Corporation NYC and in Northbrook, Illinois headquarters. Upon retirement, Marjorie moved back to Rye from the Midwest.
Marjorie was active for years with the Rye Senior Center and took a keen interest in local and state politics and elections. Her hobbies included fine tailoring, knitting, and needlepoint, as well as interests and attending Broadway theatre, international ballet, symphony orchestra and fine dining. Marjorie took time to travel extensively throughout the UK and European continent. She remained fiercely independent and self- sufficient ,well into her 90’s.
Marjorie is survived by her sister Mary O’Keefe Hicks of Harrison, NY, her daughter Marguerite Orza, her son A. Quentin (Skip) Orza II and Hollister Reid Orza of Bernardsville, NJ. Her grandchildren are Elisabeth Alice Hellmer of Columbus, OH, and Reid Quentin Orza and Alexander Thurston Orza, also from Bernardsville, NJ. Her family would like to acknowledge her fine, in-home care provided by Visiting Angels of White Plains, NY.
Marjorie was a devout Roman Catholic all her life and was a parishioner of Resurrection Church in Rye, NY. Funeral arrangements are being managed by Graham Funeral Home in Rye. A Requiem Mass held at Resurrection Church Friday September 24, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Inurnment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook, NY.
