Meals on Main Street Hosts Inaugural Fun Run
Meals on Main Street (MOMS) in Port Chester, also known as Caritas, is hosting its inaugural fun run on Sunday, October 17th. MOMS is a food hub that has been working to end food insecurity in the Port Chester area for the past 30 years.
Several Rye residents are involved in organizing the inaugural Miles for MOMS. Proceeds from the 1.5 mile run will be used to fund a large-scale, community-wide Thanksgiving event, where local organizations that help the food insecure in Port Chester will join together to provide turkeys and meals to the more than 3,500 people living below the poverty level.
Rye City residents championing this initiative include MOMS board members Terence Linehan (board president), Pat Hart (board treasurer), Jim Egan (board secretary), Joe Barber, Dennis Deutmeyer, Nicole Gibbs, Matt McConnell, Jane O’Sullivan, and Sara Miller.
The Colony Grill, owned in part by Chris Drury, president & GM of the NY Rangers, is co-hosting the fun run. The fun run will start at Walgreens, at 107 N. Main St. in Port Chester, at 8am and commence at the Colony Grill parking lot, where there will be food, drinks and music to celebrate at the finish line.
Runners can register @ mealsonmainstreet.org; $25 per adult, $20 per student (plus community service hours for participating!) and strollers are free!. The event will be held rain or shine.
