Rye Boys Varsity Soccer at Ardsley 2021-10-12

Rye Boys Varsity Soccer was put in the saw mill by Ardsley on Tuesday, losing the away game 2-1.

“Devan Patel scored his first goal of the season during a scramble in front of the box to bring the game even at 1-1 in the 60th minute,” said Rye Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Jared Small. “Ardsley scored the game-winning goal four minutes later and the Garnets came up short during a great sequence in the closing sequence when Luca Parrode’s shot was blocked and Max van der Voort hit a beautiful one-timed strike that was picked out of the corner by the Ardsley goalkeeper.”

Selim Pirinccioglu made a strong varsity debut with 10 impactful minutes in the second half, adding pressure in the attack and helping the Garnets score the tying goal. Charlie O’Rorke played a strong 80 minutes at center back, and Jack Childs put in a strong two-way performance in the center of the midfield.
