Boys Varsity Swimming Swamped by Tappan Zee But Zhou Qualifies for States

Rye Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving was swamped by Tappan Zee Friday, losing overall 69-98 despite strong individual performances.

“Freshman Ethan Zhou qualified for States in the 100 free, winning the event,” said Rye Boys Varsity Swimming Coach Kelly Johanson. “He also won the 200 IM, qualifying for Sectionals in that race. He just missed the State cut in the 200 IM by half a second.”

Other meet highlights included:

  • Sophomore Bryan Laverty won the 100 Fly and was 3rd in the 200 Free.
  • Freshman Michael Ladyzhensky placed 2nd in the 500 Free.
  • 7th grader Wilson Redd placed 2nd in the 100 Back.

The next meet in Friday, December 17th at 4:30pm vs. Yorktown.
