In Memory: Brian Martin O’Shea, Age 73
Bluffton, South Carolina – Brian Martin O’Shea (November 12, 1948 – March 28, 2022), 73, of Bluffton, SC, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2022, at MUSC Charleston with his loving wife and good friends by his side, after complications from a surgery.
He was born in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY on November 12, 1948, to Bernard and Norma (Dubey) O’Shea. Brian grew up in Rye, NY and graduated from Rye High School, Manlius Academy, and Hofstra University.
He worked many years in Sales and Marketing, for ski and golf related companies, including Pedigree Ski Shop, Stratton Mountain, Nicklaus Design and Diageo. He married his best friend Cathy in 1993 in Stratton, VT. and together they lived in Greenwich, CT, Orlando, FL, Basking Ridge, NJ, Germantown, MD and finally residing in the place he loved Bluffton, SC.
Brian was a strong man with a big heart, always sporting a “popped collar”. He used to say his “bark was bigger than his bite”, and said his farewells to everyone with a “Keep Smiling”. He was a founding member at Berkeley Hall, and a volunteer for the Amateur Golf Tournament.
Brian was a sports enthusiast but also devoted to helping youth and mentoring them on the importance of financial investments. One if his joys was meeting and chatting with friends for happy hour and watching the close of the stock market.
Brian is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cathy Hoag O’Shea; his nephew, Christopher (Bonnie) Moxhay and their daughter, Magnolia; and many other nieces; nephews; and their children; along with many good friends. He is also survived by his siblings; Kevin (Judy), Kathleen, Stephen (Deborah), and Sean O’Shea; he is pre-deceased by his sister, Maureen O’Shea.
Brian touched many lives and would tell us all to “Keep Smiling”. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service planned on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 10:30AM at St. Andrews Chapel, 222 Pinkney Colony Rd, Bluffton, SC 29909.
